Corazón, the debut cd of Tania Kross : one of its reviews:  (for the others, please check out www.taniakross.com)                 ●●●●● (= maximum score)

Last week, during the Edison Gala, Tania Kross suddenly was giver her big opportunity to appear on national television. She replaced Angela Gheorghiu, the ridiculous Roumanian prima donna who refused to sing because her name was mentioned not prominent enough on the billboards. Our cheerful Kross from Curaçao was on the winning hand for this reason to start with.  She sang two songs from her new CD Corazón, and stole our hearts hand in hand with Thomas Hampson. Corazón, with sunny music in Spanish-American atmosphere, brings us already in the second in the right mood. Kross, with her crystal clear voice, switches between lightly, airily, sultry, and somewhat melancholic, as in Guastavino’s song about the rose being cradled in the branches of the weeping willow, but was being seized by a small, cheerful girl. The willow is now weeping for his lost love. And in the song of Granados about the girl and the nightingale we hear the small bird warble in Kross’s throat.

NRC Handelsblad, Kasper Jansen, May 14, 2005

Tania Kross' debut album Corazón was released by Universal Music right after the Edison Gala, in which Tania replaced soprano Angela Gheorghiu in a duet with baritone Thomas Hampson. Cover stories were dedicated to it in the magazines Luister   and Klassieke Zaken.
